API joins forces with AB Graphic International to showcase best in class premium label finishes at Label Expo

Brand empowerment specialist API Group has teamed up with finishing equipment manufacturer AB Graphic International to showcase the best in class label finishes and embellishments at Label Expo in Brussels. The collaborative project will see API’s range of metallic foils run on AB Graphic Internationals’ innovative finishing solutions as it continues to deliver cutting edge brand enhancement products for the labels and packaging industry.

The company’s newly launched hot metallic foils, the CB Series and the UB Series will be showcased at the upcoming 40th anniversary edition of Label Expo Europe. The new foils have been specifically formulated for use on porous, absorbent, more challenging substrates typically used for wines and spirits labels and continue to deliver that brilliant shine we expect from API. The company’s industry leading TA Plus cold foil for web fed rotary presses will also be presented on stand 5E17.

To demonstrate premium label finishes, the UB Series foil will be run on AB Graphic International’s high spec Digicon machine to create a striking custom designed whisky label. The Digicon machine has been specifically designed for top end beverage applications and features two flatbed screen heads and both 50-ton Big Foot and 25-ton foiling heads, as well as a new look Vectra SGTR turret rewinder. The labels will be produced featuring both gold and copper metallic hot foil on AB Graphic Internationals’ stand 6A37 throughout the duration of the show. We encourage visitors to booth 6A37 to see first-hand how the very latest label finishes and effects can be achieved.

To highlight the versatility of the company’s TA Plus cold foil across machines and substrates, it will be demonstrated on a range of different press types during the show.  Combining the TA Plus with AB Graphic International’s Digital Embellishment Module Jetfx to showcase the effects of digital cold foiling by inkjet as well as running the TA cold foil on a large hybrid machine to demonstrate standard cold foiling on a flexographic printing press.

Speaking ahead of the show Group Marketing Director Richard Burhouse says, ‘this has been a fantastic collaboration with AB Graphic International, the live demonstrations of their finishing solutions at Label Expo allows us to showcase how the application of metallic foil, whether that is hot or cold, can really enhance a brands label and therefore the shelf appeal of a product with consumers’.

Matt Pilling, Test and Development Manager at AB Graphic International says ‘We use both the hot and cold metallic foils from API as, from a technical perspective, they have proven to provide the best results on our range of finishing equipment. We work very closely with their technical teams to ensure that we get the best results specific to the application. We welcome visitors to our stand to demonstrate the results of our collaboration and provide technical expertise and guidance to premium label finishing’
