API celebrates further success with nomination in Luxury Packaging awards

Brand enhancement specialist API has been shortlisted in the Tobacco Category for the 2015 Luxury Packaging Awards, following hard on the heels of its recent EFIA award for technical innovation.

API provided Korea Tobacco & Ginseng Corporation (KT&G) with the latest Fresnel Lens PET Laminate for the company’s limited edition super slim Esse Change tobacco product, giving it a visually stunning look with an unparalleled level of depth and kinetic focus that appears to radiate across the surface of the pack.

The laminate solution builds upon the Esse brand’s original artwork to deliver an intense gloss finish effect within the hologram of the printed pack that both transmits and reflects the light. Created specifically for the Korean Lunar New Year, the limited edition pack’s luxury design emits a sophisticated interplay of dynamic colour elements that perfectly captures the lunar celebration while still maintaining the demanding production requirements of a super slim tobacco pack.

“We are delighted that the Esse Change pack has made the shortlist in the Tobacco Category,” says Managing Director Dino Kiriakopoulos. “The recent success in the EFIA awards and the nomination for the Luxury Packaging Awards highlights the quality of our brand enhancement solutions and the range of possibilities that are achievable with our foils and laminates.”

The EFIA award was a result of a collaborative project between API and Innovia Films that saw the creation of a printed swatch booklet entitled Breaking the Boundaries of Cold Foil. The booklet challenges designers to expand their use of cold foil by providing an illustrative guide to the recent advances in film and cold foil technology. Showcasing a complete spectrum of metallic colours produced from a single silver foil in eye-catching high-definition images, the booklet clearly illustrates cold foiling techniques and the increased graphic potential for designers and brand managers in using them.

David Peters, Creative Development Manager at API said “Our understanding of the latest visual materials, combined with our knowledge of design trends and trend drivers ensures that our brand enhancement solutions are cutting edge, adding overall value to a brand’s image and providing real impact to a product’s on shelf presence.”
